Come join us for a round-table exploration of Self-Care for the Play Therapist; have some of your cases and/or playful strategies in mind as we discuss!

 Learning Objectives:

This networking session will explore the strategies and experience of self-care, the signs that one needs to engage in self-care strategies, and resources for self-care available for play therapists. Themes of vicarious trauma, counter-transference, and the necessity of community will be covered.

*   Learn about the process of integrating self-care into your life as a play therapist

*   Identify 3-4 self-care techniques for a play therapist

*   Discuss ways to help you grow as a clinician (and avoid burnout), as well as build your own play-based self-care routines


Social workers, psychologists, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, school counselors, nurses, interns, undergraduate and graduate students

Students are highly encouraged to attend. If you are new to play therapy or still learning, please come with your curiosity and questions!

** Students: Did you know you can begin to accrue APT Approved CEs that will count toward your RPT credential even before you graduate with your Master's Degree?!

The Seattle meeting will be facilitated by Meghan Whitlock, MA, LMHC. Meghan has been providing individual and family therapy for 5 years. She is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Animal Assisted Play Therapy, and Sand Play Therapy. With her dog, Josie, Meghan works on the waters of Westlake in Seattle.
