TOPIC: Play Therapy and Working with Parents: Teaching Choices

Join us for a movie night! We will be watching Garry Landreth’s video, “Choice, Cookies, and Kids” and discussing how we can work with parents in our work as play therapists.

Objectives:

*Learn how to empower children by offering choices

*Discuss ways to help children develop self-responsibility and self-control in play therapy

*Discuss effective strategies for working with parents in play therapy


The Seattle meeting will be facilitated by WAAPT President Elizabeth Peixoto, MS, LMHC. Elizabeth Peixoto is Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a private practice in Seattle called Seattle Youth and Family Therapy. She has been working with children and families therapeutically for nine years and specializes in anxiety, depression, aggressive behaviors, adjustment difficulties, and trauma.
