Title: An Introduction to a Foster/Adopt Parenting Model in Play Therapy
Description: Join us for a brief overview on working with parents of foster/adopt children in play therapy, and an introduction to Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). This presentation will also include a discussion about how parenting a child from a hard place differs from that of other children. Practical parenting skills will also be reviewed to help with the difficulty/challenges that arise and to help parents become more playful and engaging with children from hard places.
1) Watch and discuss TBRI: An Overview.
2) Learn basic principles of TBRI and how they help foster/adopt families in play therapy.
3) Learn what the Life Value Terms are and how to use them with parents in play therapy.
Bio: Krissy Perry is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with a MEd in Community Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. She has worked with children and families in a variety of settings over the past 8 years – nonprofit agencies, head start programs, for-profit agencies, and private practice. Krissy currently works in private practice in Bellevue. Her specialized training includes: Play Therapy, Trauma Play Therapy, Trust Based Relational Intervention®, Theraplay®, and Child Parent Relationship Therapy. She also serves as Board Secretary for WAAPT.
